Saturday's Keeneland and Pimlico Race Picks
Ok, so I'm at work goldbricking with my handicapping. Are there any race fans at my job? As if! Anyway, I decided to use my Breeder's Cup 2002 computer model to pick the forever watch uk winners of these two races. This model was time consuming, fairly useless and merely confirmed the value of Beyer speed figures. But I'm relentless. The model did come up with the winner of the Breeder's Cup Classic, Volponi, had I chosen to rely on it, but by the time the Classic rolled around, my faith had gone the way of Clinton's morals. Anyway, here is what my model picked. On the subway ride home tonight, I will study the sheets and re-read the Handicapping Lesson I printed out from the DRF site. But here is my model's conclusions: Coolmore Lexington: Sketchy. Mile and sixteenth. A lot of speed runners, may be a nice pace, may set up for closer. All things considered, I'm going with Champali, horse for the course, Pat Day jockey. The other one is Domestic Dispute, closer, son of Unbrided's Song, ridden by Bailey, handled distance. Federico Tesio, Pimlico: Cherokee's Boy and Penobscot Bay. Ain't passing on horses for the courses again, have the Beyers, and the lack of one dimensional speed horses, or two dimensional speed horses for that matter lead me to think: slow pace, goodbye closers, hello Cherokee's Boy, hello Penobscot. I'm driving upstate and will watch these from my mother's livingroom. Wish me luck.
